Over the years of this blog, I've signed off most annums with a link to a song that would, hopefully, cause readers and friends to reflect on the human condition. One year, it was an unknown band of known musicians called Living Loud. One year it was the former lead vocalist of Survivor, Jimi Jamison.
I got nothing new for you this year...so those will hopefully have to suffice. After all...they are timeless messages.
Despite that, Bob Lefsetz has a post that I'd love to share. It's about, as he says, "an album that was seen as a failure that everybody loves." As I did.
It came out when I was in radio in a day where local stations actually picked the music they played. And, I was all over the Souther, Hillman, Furay Band. As I was J.D. Souther's solo album "Black Rose"...even though it went pretty much nowhere.
Lyrically, though...you can't get much better.
Bob's take is masterful. I hope you enjoy it...and I'll be back Monday.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
