Just caught an article in a small town paper that reveals that the local tourism commission is being asked by an alderman to invest room tax revenue to create a City Webpage (sic). This "Webpage" could cost anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000...and would include "online bill paying, filling out permit and park rental applications and securing a webpage address with a .gov address to enable secure police department emails."
And, since the alderman is asking for Room Tax revenues, they'll include links to attractions and a calendar of events, too.
I feel like I'm back in 1994 when Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric discovered the internet.
This is so not going to go well...
