Door County has been one of my favorite destination since I was 9.
That's when my family began an annual pilgrimage to the thumb of Wisconsin...which I continued as a young adult until the summer that the arrival of my youngest daughter broke the chain. But, while no longer an annual experience, it's still a fave.
For those of us that are veterans, the names of the towns that make up this stellar destination are often shortened. Fish Creek is Fish. Egg Harbor is Egg. Ellison Bay is Ellison...etc. As a child, we frequented Ellison. As an adult, I gravitated to Fish (where said daughter was conceived).
Egg was where we shopped for provisions...but, OMG, who knew?
A recent "study" by the Green Bay Press-Gazette has named Egg Harbor as having the most bars per capita in Wisconsin. As in 1 bar per 9 residents.
Sounds like nirvana.
I'll be back soon.
