Taking on a new destination is a daunting task, even for the experienced DMO pro. So we're always intrigued by unique processes we see. We posted on Brent Lonteen's goal to meet 100 community leaders in 100 days in Peoria. We posted on David DuBois' intent to live in his destination's hotels to get a better feel for his inventory in Ft. Worth as he and his wife looked for a house.
And now, Joe Marinelli pops into Savannah two weeks before taking the CVB reins there to experience the community before anybody recognizes his face or his name.
My favorite in the story from the Savannah Morning News: He meets a great cab driver on the trip in from the airport, gets his card...and plans to call him to have coffee once a month to find out "what he's seeing and hearing out there."
Cool...and something you don't need to be new in town to do.
