Last week Joe Buhler, Dave Serino and I talked smart on the topic of Travel Web 2.0 on DMOU. This week, three new 2.0 products were unveiled. We touched on TripAdvisor's "friends and family" offering on Wednesday. We were even more excited yesterday after playing with the Beta version of VibeAgent.
And, thanks to the tip from Terminal Enthusiasm, we've now discovered the hat trick: Farecast.
Based on the history of certain routes and their demand, Farecast is an airfare prediction site that recommends whether you should buy a ticket or wait for the fare to decrease. You can search in virtually any convoluted pattern of destinations (great for road warriors), block red-eyes and even check how full the plane looks.
Navigant Consulting reportedly looked at 44,000 predictions that the site made between January 1 and March 31 while the site was still in beta, and found that Farecast was accurate about 75 percent of the time.
Very cool.
Well, I hope I did make sense on DMOU, which was fun. Here are two more smart air shopping engines: FlySpy and FareCompare

I would suggest to try travel search engine Trabber - www.trabber.com
