Absolutely! On top of that, every politician out there utilized the meetings industry to get their job.
They all had to go out and "meet" people if they wanted to get elected. From town-hall meetings, major conventions, strategy retreats, and let's not forget the $10,000 plate fundraisers at the very fancy hotels and resorts they are so opposed to. And once they get elected, well, there is a party for that too.
It should be obvious for them to make the connection that meetings are necessary in a winning strategy. In fact, a very solid case could be made that the loser in an election didn't hold enough meetings, gatherings, or heaven-forbid parties.
