Chrysler's Jim Press has been known to toss off the occasional ill-advised comment. But a recent communique to struggling dealers (i.e., his partners) shows the depths of despair the automaker must be feeling.
In a memo urging American Chrysler dealers to order 15,000 cars within the week, despite many having nowhere on their lots to put them, Press said:
"You have two choices. You can either help us or burn us all down."
Not exactly the kind of rhetoric to which I'd respond positively...especially when the first choice might help Chrysler, but could force me to close my doors.
Hey, Jim? The way to get people to do what you want is to make it all about them...even when we know it's really only about you.
Thanks to Iconoculture for the catch.
I wonder how his next job interview will go? "You have two choices hire me or..."
Humm how will he fill in the blank I wonder?
