But it's the packaging of the Mountain Dew throwback that made me laugh out loud when I saw it in a local grocery store the other day. Because...I remember when Mountain Dew was the new kid on the block. And there was something just slightly subversive about the hillbilly on the bottle. We kids were drinking the equivalent of moonshine soda...or so we thought.
But, I really laughed when I saw the line "Made with Real Sugar" on the label. I had forgotten what a big deal that was at the time, as many sodas had switched to corn syrup for sweetness.
And that IS a throwback...as sugar is so NOT what sells today. But, like the Heart Attack Grill, it does...if for only the FU factor in the face of the health consciousness that seems to consume us all these days.
Only problem being that the FU factor is causing real problems for our kids...enjoyed this post.
