We've shared the cool viral videos that have come from destinations like Leavenworth, Asheville and Rockford...but what has just emerged from Grand Rapids is truly amazing.
In the past two weeks, over 2.5 million people have experienced the "lipdub" video that is Grand Rapids' response to being dissed by Newsweek as a "dying city."
Experience Grand Rapids' CEO Doug Small (who "stars" in the video...with hundreds of others) said: “To pull off an event of this magnitude in a central business district is a remarkable achievement and represents the true essence of our city and all that it has to offer.”
I'll say. And so says Roger Ebert, who calls this the greatest music video ever made.
So amazingly cool. If you haven't yet seen it...you so should.
Grand Rapids' citizens are amazing. Here they are, proclaiming to the world that their city is not even close to dying. The video itself is amazing, shot continuously in one take. There's no way Newsweek could have anticipated the response, and have now backed away from their claim that Grand Rapids is a dying city.
