I used to live in the world of Rock Radio. In the days before the consultants ruined it.
When Satellite Radio emerged, I was an early adopter. And, as much as I can't imagine a summer's day without Margaritaville Radio in the background, I was always non-plussed by Sirius/XM's holiday channels. And, since the merger, it's much worse.
Honestly...give me a satellite Christmas channel to program and I could so rock it. And you'd NEVER hear Jose Feliciano. Not once.
Thankfully, my new crib is situated in such a way that I can't get a satellite signal...so I switched to streaming internet radio through my iPhone through my stereo.
Damn...why in the world was I paying $15 a month?
For those that haven't tried it yet...trust me. Hook your dock to your stereo, download an app like TuneIn (best 99 cents I ever spent) and be simply amazed at the options.
Yes, as one of my daughters said, "Just do Pandora." I get that...but the song selection is based upon my tastes. I want to hear stuff I've never heard before!
And, for Holiday music this season...try The Christmas Lite, 181.fm's Christmas Smooth Jazz and (for some Chill) SomaFM: Christmas Lounge.
Enjoy.
