We were excited to see that our friend Lee Tasseff and his intrepid staff at the Mansfield OH CVB came home from the recent Ohio Travel Conference with some serious hardware. In all, the DMO nailed five awards (two of them first place) for their efforts to promote Richland County.
When told of the awards at a County Commissioner meeting, one member of that august body offered an amazing thought. Commissioner Ed Olson estimated that between 12 and 15 percent (or about $1.5 million) of the County’s sales tax revenue is generated by visitor spending.
“One dollar contributed by a visitor is one dollar we don’t have to ask our citizens for,” he said.
Yeah...like he said.
