For Destination Marketing Pros, the Simpleview Summit is one of the best conferences of the year. A great mix of DMO Leadership and front line troops makes for sensational conversation and even better networking.
Best line/concept of this year's Summit came from one of our 'Sconnie friends, Stevens Point Area CVB CEO Sara Brish. During Monday's Executive Leadership Workshop, we were discussing the transition that many DMOs are making from pay-to-play representation of destination businesses to listing every business regardless of investment. Sara shared that she provides "free" listings to her business community...but only after they sign an agreement with the CVB.
"We need to know they have a pulse," she said. Or, what's the point?
Smart concept...on a number of levels.
Very good move.

Is Sara willing to share a copy of her agreement? Great idea!

I wonder how many are dead? I'm sure there are a few that at least need business CPR.

Sounds promising in theory. How long has it been in effect?

About three years. She says it's a wonderful way to offer the service but not have to list every joint in town if they don't really care about capitalizing on the Visitor Industry.
