If you have been paying attention to internet protocols over the past few months, you know that there are suddenly a lot more Top Level Domains out there than .com, .net and .org. No, really...a LOT more.
This year, TLDs such as .sexy, .cheap and .land became available...along with a bunch of others.
One of the groups that thought it would be neat to have its own domain was the Republican Party. And, on the surface, that might make some sense. Especially for candidates (RickPerry.gop) and State and County party machines (SouthCarolina.gop), it would be another interesting way to attempt to brand the campaigns (even though, research is showing that these new TLDs aren't getting much traction...even the .xxx one).
Except...how to keep out nefarious uses? Did Party leadership ever consider that those on the other side (who are known for a devilish sense of humor), might start snapping up URLs such as defeat.gop, sodomy.gop or noblacksallowed.gop...all of which were searched and found to be available during the first day of domain registration this week?
What is so hard about this interwebs thingy for a Party that claims to have all the answers?
Because, I just searched Clueless.gop (click image to enlarge)...and it's available for $20.16.
Sigh...
Please tell me you spent the $20.16

LMAO…no, I can barely manage the two sites I already have. But, I probably missed a chance to flip it for a profit. :)
