Terri discovered this amazing video last week when it was burbling at around 30,000 views. It's over half a million today...and all because a band enlisted the help of an 89-year old vaudevillian song and dance man for their new video.
The band is Dustbowl Revival, self described as a collective that merges old school bluegrass, gospel, pre-war blues and the hot swing of New Orleans to form a spicy roots cocktail. They were also named "Best Live Band" by LA Weekly for their raucous sets across the west coast. The debut album is scheduled to drop next month.
No disrespect for the band or the song...but neither are in a position to go that viral in just two weeks. A lion's share of those half a million views are for none other than Dick Van Dyke (The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mary Poppins, etc.) who, at 89, can still dance better than more 50 year olds I see in the clubs. And, still has that smile that can light up any room.
On this Music Friday, it's Dick Van Dyke and Dustbowl Revival with "Never Had to Go."
You're welcome!
Very fun! That's one spry 89-year old!
