As I was giving thanks over the weekend with family and friends, I had to give thanks to a perp with a sense of humor and a police department with a soul.
By now, you may have heard of the case of the 20 dozen coconut donuts. A guy, visiting Madison from Los Angeles, was turned away from the UW-Northwestern game because he didn't understand the seating rules at Camp Randall Stadium. The UW Police pretty clearly over-reacted and the guy missed the game (and his friends) that he had flown half a continent to see.
But, it was the responses that made this story share-worthy. Upon his return home, he had 20 dozen coconut donuts delivered to the UW Police Department. The Police tracked him down and asked "why the coconut donuts?"
His rationale was pretty simple. He thinks the job the Police generally do is awesome...but their handling of his situation was not awesome. Donuts are awesome...but coconut donuts are not so awesome.
The rest of the story is better if you click here and read the e-mail exchange between the perp and the Police.
Too funny...and sensationally well played.
