As I searched for a link for my old friend Roman Sawczak for last week's Music Friday post on the Dancing Noodles, his picture with Sam Kinison that accompanies his interview on Chicago Radio Spotlight transported me back to a song that I hadn't heard, or thought of, in years.
Not the Troggs' version...but Sam's.
Yeah, the late comedian (link is NSFW).
A lot of covers of classics are either painfully loyal to the source material or try way to hard to create distance from the original. Sam made "Wild Thing" sound like it was his from the beginning.
The video is even more fun, with appearances by Steve Tyler, Joe Perry, members of Ratt, Slash, Billy Idol, Steve Vai, Richie Sambura, Jon Bon Jovi, Tommy Lee and a bunch of other rockers.
Oh, yeah...and Jessica Hahn, the woman who helped bring down televangelist Jim Bakker.
This week's Music Friday offering: Sam's decidedly raunchy version of "Wild Thing."
Guys? You know she's out there...
:)
