Earth, Wind & Fire was one of those bands that, looking back, helped define an era in radio when you'd likely hear them sandwiched in between Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles...on album rock stations. And, it wouldn't sound weird.
That's how cool they were. That's how respected their musical accomplishments were. And, so much of that was Maurice White.
We lost another icon yesterday, as the frontman, songwriter and co-founder of EFW (and a Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame inductee) died in his sleep after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
On this sad Music Friday, we celebrate the life and art of Maurice White with EWF's "Shining Star."
Thanks for remembering one of the very best ever!
