He was considered one of the most influential blues musicians of his generation. Otis Rush burst onto the Windy City Blues scene in the late 1950s with a style that would soon be called West Side Chicago Blues. Musicians that claim they were influenced by Otis include Eric Clapton (who played alongside his inspiration at Montreaux in 1986).
Some say his style was a result of playing a right-handed guitar left-handed. Whatever it was, Otis simply smoked.
He departed Terra Firma late last month at 84. On this Music Friday, we say farewell with this 1966 video from an appearance on German TV. This is "I Can't Quit You, Baby."
