With all due respect to their fans, I always saw the band Quiet Riot as formulamatic...too calculated. Don't get me wrong, they sold a shit ton of albums and the band is likely living in a higher style than I. But their songs typically targeted the lowest common denominator. "Cum On Feel the Noize," "Mama, Weer All Crazee Now" and "Bang Your Head." Not exactly philosophically challenging, eh?
I say that not to denigrate the band but to highlight one of the tracks (and videos) that actually broke some interesting ground...and is, sadly, becoming more relevant today in a world in which repression of free speech is gaining acceptance once again.
Quiet Riot cannot be found in my iTunes Library...with the exception of this track that features drummer Frankie Banali as the protagonist in a dystopian video. We lost Frankie last week to pancreatic cancer at 68.
On this Music Friday, we say godspeed with "The Wild and the Young."
