With the sad passing of Sir Sean Connery, I was reminded that the 007 franchise he helped launch on the silver screen is the only one I can recall that a big deal was typically made about who sang the theme song. Naturally, part of that is the sheer longevity of the series. But, there's always been something more...even as the franchise moved into a new century and saw performers such as Adele, Garbage and Chris Cornell take star turns on the opening songs.
You may disagree with this ranking from a 2015 piece in Rolling Stone...but, it's generally on the mark (with some great trivia and backstories). And yes, Shirley Bassey will always be the voice of 007.
But, on this Music Friday, we're going with my Dad's all-time favorite. This is Tom Jones and "Thunderball."
Bill, can you name the movie these lines came from? "You got my suit wet!" "Yes, but my martini is still dry."

"Never Say Never" Only Connery could deliver a line like that with a slight smirk so entertainingly.
