We lost one of the biggest recording artists of the late '60s and early '70s last weekend when B.J. Thomas succumbed to cancer. Always the crooner, his music was never groundbreaking...but his voice produced solid hits and an Academy Award nomination for Best Vocal Performance with "Raindrops," featured in the epic movie "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid."
He is probably best known for "Hooked on a Feeling," though most people know the cover version by Blue Swede (recently resurrected in "Guardians of the Galaxy").
While his hits were decades ago, he still kept making music and touring right to the end of his time on terra firma. We say farewell with this great duet with Keb' Mo' from 2013.
Oooga Chaka, dude.
Wondered if you saw his obit. Saw him live while in his mid-fifties. The man could flat out sing! RIP B.J.
