One of the things we love to do with Music Friday is shine a light on bands you may never have heard. Vandenberg may have been one of those bands...but you do know its namesake's work.
Guitarist Adrian Vandenburg burst on the scene in 1982 with a song that barely broke the Top 40...but got more significant play on FM Rockers (and during my turn as an FM Programmer, we played the snot out of it). A few years later, he guest soloed on a Whitesnake album and then joined the band for a ten year run during the band's most prolific period. A period that produced hits like "Here I Go Again," "Still of the Night"and "Is This Love." And, while David Coverdale was the face of the band, Adrian figured prominently in those MTV videos.
Vandenberg is back and touring this Summer and Fall in Europe. Here's hoping they come back to America.
