As word trickled out last weekend that we had lost one of the coolest voices of the '60s, it was no surprise that within an hour, a Sam and Dave track shuffled forward on my playlist.
Sam Moore was called "the greatest living soul singer" in 2006 by Rolling Stone and performed with a who's who of artists from Don Henley to Marty Stuart.
On this Music Friday, we share some of the classics like "I Thank You," "You Don't Know Like I Do" and one of my all times faves, "Ain't That a Lotta Love."
And...this masterpiece from the concert marking the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's Bruce and Sam with "Hold On / Soul Man."
Rest, sweet prince. And thanks for all the memories.
